Pabineau First Nation
I am a Mi’gmaw artist from Pabineau First Nation, working across animation, film, painting, illustration, poetry, and music. As a mother, storyteller, and dreamer, I draw on Mi’gmaq legends, childhood memory, and current traditions to create work that explores identity, healing, and cultural continuity.
My art has been exhibited across Canada, the United States, and Italy, including the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba, Honor the Earth’s Impacted Nations, Irréductibles Racines with Le Congrès Mondial Acadien, Rome’s Angelica Gallery and Foundation Besso, and Toronto’s Joseph D. Carrier Upper Gallery. I have directed films for the National Film Board of Canada and collaborated with organizations from Coca-Cola Canada to provincial arts initiatives and Honor the Earth.
I am a two-time ECMA nominee—for Manager of the Year (2004) and my solo album Up Risin’ (2009). I serve as a juror for the Polaris Music Prize and contribute to arts organizations across Canada.. My art work has appeared in publications including Everywoman’s Almanac and Literacy in Action. I continue to share my vision through original artworks and high-quality prints, inviting audiences into worlds of story, triumph, and resilience.
